Noise
Detailed Description:
Noise (derived from alarm, which in turn comes from the Italian all'arme, meaning "to arms") or racket refers to sounds (noise) that, due to their structure (usually volume), have a disturbing (disturbing noise), stressful, or harmful effect on the environment (especially humans). Whether sounds are consciously perceived as noise depends particularly on the listener's assessment of the sound source. Despite acoustic habituation, noise can continue to have an unconscious effect on the body and psyche. Noise can disrupt biological rhythms (see also day-night rhythm) and cause or promote sleep disorders.
