The Objective
The goal of this project was to reduce reverberation in the room and to improve the atmosphere and speech intelligibility. The room features a glass front, stone floors, and a clinker brick wall. Ceremonies and events are held there regularly. The reverberation was so high that speech intelligibility was significantly impaired when three or more people were present. The goal was clearly to reduce the reverberation while creating visual highlights with products and colors that would still blend harmoniously into the room.
Our Approach
During the on-site visit, we measured the reverberation, took photos, and discussed the owner’s expectations and preferences. Using the measurement results, the owner’s preferences, and acoustic software, we calculated the optimal configuration to ensure natural and pleasant acoustics. In the next step, we determined and discussed the placement and installation of the individual products.
The Result
The room shows a significant improvement thanks to the products used; the reverberation is noticeably reduced, making conversation possible even during a table tennis match. Even when empty, the room does not feel overly soundproofed.
