Sound intensity (symbol I), which is one of the sound energy quantities, refers to the sound power that passes through a surface per unit area. The corresponding logarithmic quantity is the sound intensity level. The two-microphone technique is usually used to measure sound intensity. Sometimes, sound intensity is also referred to as sound energy flux density.
