Sound pressure level (Lp)
Detailed Description:
The sound pressure level (L from "level" and p from "pressure") is a logarithmic quantity used to describe the strength of a sound event. The sound pressure level is often referred to – not entirely correctly – as the "sound level." The sound pressure level is measured in decibels (abbreviation dB).
Sound pressure is measured using microphones. The measurable level range starts at just below 0 dB and ends at around 150 to 160 dB.
