Keyword:
Room mode

Detailed Description:
Room mode (from Latin modus; plural: room modes) is a technical term in acoustics. It describes the stationary properties of standing sound waves with a natural frequency in enclosed spaces, whereby the effect on the auditory impression of the people inside is of particular interest. Room modes are particularly undesirable in musical performances and are often described by our customers as a booming sound. In room acoustics, Helmholtz resonators can be used specifically to absorb narrow-band, low-frequency room modes. They can be used, for example, in concert halls, theaters, studios, offices, conference rooms, and schools. They can be a visible part of the room's interior design or concealed behind an open suspended ceiling.
