Localization (acoustics)
Detailed Description:
Localization refers to the recognition of the direction and distance of a sound source as directional hearing and distance hearing, i.e., directional localization and distance localization. Localization is therefore a passive process, in contrast to positioning, which describes an active process in which the behavior of an emitted signal is used for localization (e.g., sonar). In order to be able to perceive a musical event with many acoustic effects very well, the acoustics/room acoustics must be adjusted accordingly. Both diffusers and sound absorbers are used to make the performance a musical listening experience.
