Detailed Description:
Sound that is transmitted without obstacles from a sound source to a sound receiver. Also referred to as sound in the direct field or sound in the free field, in acoustics this is the sound in a closed room that arrives first at the listening or measuring point without having undergone any sound reflections in the meantime. This contrasts with room sound R, which is also referred to as sound in the room field or diffuse sound in the diffuse field.
