Rating level (Lr)

The rating level Lr (L for "level," r for "rating") is the decisive variable for the objective assessment of noise pollution at a workplace. In addition to weighting the sound pressure level depending on the frequency (see A-weighted sound pressure level), additions and deductions are taken into account when determining the sound pressure level, depending on the characteristics of the noise (e.g., impulsiveness or distinct emergence of individual tones) and its duration. The assessment level is also specified in dB(A).
