Sound waves
Detailed Description:
Fluctuations in air pressure caused by sound events are called sound waves. The length of the sound waves defines the frequency, and the height of the sound waves defines the level. Long sound waves have a low frequency and are perceived as low tones. Short sound waves have a high frequency and are perceived as high tones. A 100 Hz wave has an amplitude of 3.40 meters in the air, while a 5,000 Hz wave has an amplitude of approximately 7 centimeters.
