The term covers all types of absorbers that use a resonance mechanism, such as an enclosed air volume or an oscillating surface. They are primarily suitable for absorbing medium to low frequencies. The effect of resonance absorbers is usually limited to a maximum frequency range (see also "porous absorbers").
