Keyword:
Reverberation radius

Detailed Description:
In acoustics, the reverberation radius or reverberation distance rH in a closed room is the distance from the sound source Q at which the direct sound level LD is equal to the room sound level LR in the statistical sound field. The term reverberation radius rH is always used when referring to a sound source with a spherical directional characteristic. In the more general case of a sound source with any directional characteristic, this distance is referred to as the reverberation distance and varies in different directions. In engineering, a spherical loudspeaker is often used as the sound source for spherical sound propagation. In particular, a spherical loudspeaker is used in a reverberation chamber, for example, to determine the sound absorption coefficients of a sound absorber / ceiling sail / acoustic element / acoustic image / acoustic ceiling in accordance with DIN ISO 354.
